Finca Atzumpa, El Salvador
Finca Atzumpa, El Salvador
Dark berries. Chocolate. Syrupy.
This single origin has a lot of depth to it. There's a complex fruity acidity present bursting with berry flavour. Underneath is a rich chocolate taste that reminds us of Madagascan chocolate. This coffee has a syrupy body that lingers even after your last sip.
Finca Atzumpa is in the Concepción de Ataco region of the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range in western El Salvador. The farm is owned by fifth generation coffee producers of the Ariz-Herrera family who have been growing speciality grade coffee since 1875. The Ariz-Herrera’s are one of the founding families of FUNDATACO which is a foundation that helps local children pursue athletic opportunities and scholarships, amongst other sustainability and employment initiatives in the community. They’ve also won numerous awards in recognition of the quality of their coffee including Cup of Excellence in 2018 & 2019.
After being picked, the coffee is dried for 20 days on hot clay patios at nearby El Carmens warehouse before its resting period.
